Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA)

The Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) was created in 1972 and serves the Easton, Allentown, and Bethlehem areas in Northampton and Lehigh Counties.  LANTA also provides contracted service for Carbon County Community Transit, such as the LYNX.

Today, LANTA's 35ft and 40ft Metro buses operate on 17 daytime city routes, 7 suburban routes, 7 school routes and the Silverline Express route.  In the evening, there is the Starlight and Night Owl service that provides evening service for the area.  On Saturdays, the Slater Express Van brings area residents to Palmer Park Mall.

LANTA also retained 3 inactive 1989 Orion Is (8941, 8944, 8932) with the Detroit Diesel 6v71 hooked up to a Voith transmission.  The LYNX service uses 2007 Starcraft Allstar 24 Passenger Body cutaway with a Chevy C5500 Chassis.

Now that Act 44 provided additional money for transit systems across the state, LANTA is surveying residents in the Lehigh Valley to see how they can improve service.  They call this regional transportation development plan "Moving LANTA forward."  You can read more about this plan by visiting the following websites:
