While operating on the Frankford's Route 3, 5786 was involved in a major accident along Kensington Avenue and Hunting Park Avenue. The driver in the van traveling in front of the bus was talking on her cell phone and lost control of the vehicle and cut the bus off. Consequently, this caused the bus to crash into a MFL-El support pole on Kensington Avenue. Overall, 18 people including the bus driver sustained injuries. As far as 5786, the entire front partion of the bus has been destroyed.
According to Front5151 on the boards, #8222-8229 has been spotted in the Germantown depot Parking lot. As also reported, 8231-8239 were spotted at a Detroit Diesel facility in Minneapolis getting work done. Photos of these buses are posted on the Chicagobus.org forums.

It was only supposed to be a weekend bustitution as the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) did some routine maintenance. However, apparently the sewer collapsed, so the 36 will be bustituting for around six weeks!

On Earth Day (Wednesday, April 22nd), TMA Bucks will celebrate Earth Day by offering free rides on all of its routes. Additionally, the CNG Bus (G144) will operate all day long on the Street Road rushbus.
According to Front5151 on the boards, the unusual swap of buses between Southern and Callowhill is because the 2008 New Flyer buses have passenger counters installed on them. Most of the hybrids on loan has been reported to operate on the Route 17. This is not the first time when buses were purposely assigned to a route due to passenger counters. Back in 2004, 5591 and 5592 were assigned on a daily basis onto 124 and 125 these routes because they counters installed.

It's been a pretty interesting day in the sightings First it was 8003 on the 21 to kick things off. Plus there were sightings of 81xx on the 17/G throughout the day. So far, 8131, 8136, 8138, 8147, 8149 were reported on the route 17. It's uncertain what is going on, but to say the least it's interesting.
Here's the real kicker: 7233 was reported in the yard at Victory!!!
As soon as we get information on these interesting assignments, we keep you informed.
we keep you infomed.

The bastardized Volvo 40 footer #8590 is back on SEPTA property now at Berridge shops to be repainted. Once the work is done, it will be sent back to the bus museum in Hershey. What's most interesting with this bus is the fact the rear scheme of this bus now resembles a New Flyer. The real kicker that is there are no taillights on the rear. Perhaps the reason this bus was sent down to Berridge is because of their expertise with the Volvos though 1984-2000.

Today PTV forum member Southern_8100 spotted 9017 with an Orange LED sign. Both front and door side has been retrofitted. "the side sign in the interior is no longer there" - Southern_8100. 9017 is most likely the test car for this sign. A year ago SEPTA placed a bid on these sign with Twinvision as the lowest bidder. The Subway surface trolleys are already getting interior communications devices installed to. Get your cameras ready!
Shortly after PTV forum member buswizard spotted 9017 on the 36.
E40LFR 800 Which is the prototype bus for the trackless trolley order is now in revenue service. The bus was originally delivered to SEPTA back in June 2007 for testing out Frankford but returned to New Flyer to be a control vehicle while 801-837 were constructed. 800 returned to SEPTA property after some modifications in late 2008 but was used to debug problems with the rest of the fleet. This unit was spotted in service for the first time on route 66 today.
Starting tomorrow, March 17, TMA Bucks will start running it's CNG Bus, #G144, on the Bristol rushbus route. This bus, a Coach and Equipment Phoenix on a Ford 350 chassis, was recently converted from gasoline to compressed natural gas. What a way to "Go Green" on St. Patrick's Day!
Greyhound's brand new Prevost X3-45s were spotted in the Philadelphia depot on Delaware Ave. These buses are painted in the new "blue" scheme, which is a throwback to the scheme of the 1950s.
